Background and Mission

Background

In the spring of 2013, Marcus Cranston, a physician and Colonel in the US Air Force, began planning "Run-the-World 4 Parkinson's Disease".  He was about to enter his 4th year since being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 44.  The project was designed with a "444" theme - run 4 miles in 44 countries in 4 weeks and 4 days beginning 4/4/2014 and chronicle progress under the name, the 444 Parkinson's Traveler.

The project initially tied fundraising to the Michael J. Fox Foundation through a Team Fox association.  In addition to funding Parkinson's Disease research, many responded with a desire to fund the project and those with Parkinson's Disease directly. Therefore, 444 Parkinson's Foundation was formed to provide another opportunity to donate to causes that assist those affected by Parkinson's Disease.

Marcus and his wife, Lila, were fortunate to assemble a board of very talented members, including a lawyer, physician and travel writer to provide the breath of the knowledge and experience needed to bring the 444 Parkinson's Foundation into being and provide future direction.

On November 6, 2013, the incorporation of 444 Parkinson's Foundation was recognized by the state of Nevada.  The foundation is currently pursing 501(c)3 tax exempt status with the Internal Revenue Service.

Mission

The mission of the 444 Parkinson's Disease Foundation is to advance Parkinson's Disease awareness.   As a small, newly founded foundation, the 444 Parkinson's Disease Foundation will focus on projects that fund travel needs of those affected by Parkinson's Disease.
